How to Build a Role-Based Financial Services Training Plan

Start with responsibilities, risks, and observable behaviors to build a training plan that fits the work people actually perform.

A role-based training plan connects each assignment to the decisions an employee makes, the information they handle, and the customer outcomes they can influence. That makes the training easier to explain, reinforce, and evaluate.

Begin by grouping learners around shared responsibilities rather than job titles alone. Two employees with different titles may need the same foundation, while employees on the same team may need very different depth.

For each group, name the business need and the behavior you expect after training. Separate licensing and regulatory requirements from onboarding, risk reinforcement, and professional development so each assignment has a clear reason.

Finally, define the evidence you need and who will follow up. Completion records matter, but manager discussion, focused practice, and escalation reminders are what help training carry into the work.
